Must Read: Essential Edible Printer Maintenance

Posted by Tanya Montgomery on 18th Sep 2024

Regular printer maintenance can help you avoid last-minute troubleshooting, extend your printer's life, and ensure optimal printer performance. It is also necessary if you have an Edible Image Supplies edible printer that is still under warranty.

What does this look like?

DailyTurn the printer off and on.

TIP: See our blogEdible Printer Turned On or Off? Let's Settle This Now!

Weekly:  Run a test print through the printer using normal A4 paper. Do not use your icing sheets for this. This test print will keep your printer and ink moving and indicate if you have a potential issue well before you need to print a job.

TIP: Make your test print a nozzle check and check ink performance simultaneously!

Fortnightly:  Run a standard cleaning cycle via your printer software, remove the edible ink cartridges and clean any excess ink in the print head chambers with a lint free cloth. Wipe away dust and any other debris with a lint-free cloth.

TIP: EIS Cleaning Solution Cartridges can be used to run cleaning cycles.

6 Monthly: Remove and clean the printhead. See our blog for detailed instructions. If you print high volumes, this may be required more frequently.

TIP: The nozzle check will let you know if it is required sooner.

Regularly:  Open the printer and look at the edible ink cartridges to check the ink levels. Trying to print with empty cartridges can cause print head damage.

TIP: With edible ink NEVER trust the ink levels displayed on your device or

the printer lcd panel.

Always: Use high quality edible ink for optimum performance and brilliant colour. EIS edible ink is specially formulated for Canon printers, made in Italy, it has a long shelf life, and we offer quantity discounts.

Always: Maintain your printer at a consistent room temperature and cover it when not in use to protect it from dust and food particles, especially if it is in the kitchen.

A happy printer is a well maintained one. Your edible printer is an investment—show it some love to ensure a great return.
