Cake Crumbs 2025: A Year of Creativity, Courage & Cake

Posted by Nicole Tait on 12th Jan 2026

2025 was another incredible year for our Cake Crumbs blog series. We met inspiring creators from all walks of life - cookie artists, cake makers, edible image pros and passionate small‑business owners - each sharing their journey, their hard‑earned tips, and the wisdom they’ve picked up along the way.

Here’s our 2025 Cake Crumbs Wrap‑Up, celebrating each featured creator with a short snapshot, one practical tip, and a quote that perfectly sums up their story.

The creator: Susie is a Melbourne‑based nurse turned cookie creator who built her business during lockdown, transforming her love of baking into beautifully detailed, personality‑filled cookies.

Top tip: Pair your edible printer with other tools (like a cutting machine) to streamline your workflow and stay organised during busy periods.

Quote: “Set‑up was an absolute breeze… and I love the level of organisation this allows.”

The creator: What started as party favours for her daughter’s first birthday quickly grew into a thriving custom biscuit business.

Top tip: Print edible images a day ahead so they’re fully dry and ready to apply without smudging.

Quote: “Edible images save me time and allow me to cater to absolutely any theme.”

The creator: Cass built Oh Biscuits to give herself flexibility as a mum, while creating fun, colourful cookies that bring joy to families.

Top tip: There are many possibilities that Edible Images can be used for; it’s easier to go in with a direction rather than getting lost wanting to do everything.

Quote: “Running my business has given me the biggest blessing of all — time with my daughters.”

Amanda Tankey - Save Me Some Cake

Read Amanda’s full Cake Crumbs feature

The creator: Amanda proudly calls herself a ‘queenager’, proving it’s never too late to dive into sugar art and build something creative alongside a full‑time career.

Top tip: Use it regularly, or at least give it a quick run once a week. Treat it well, and it’ll be one of the best investments you make. I’ve got the A3 Canon, and honestly - I love it.

Quote: “It’s never too late to learn something new.”

David & Jade - Ace Edible Images

Read David & Jade’s full Cake Crumbs feature

The creators: This husband‑and‑wife duo combined cake decorating (I Bake Cakes) with opportunity, turning Ace Edible Images into a busy edible printing business.

Top tip: Do not apply an image to whipped cream, or apply the night before and refrigerate - the image will crinkle and go soggy.

Quote: “I'm super proud of myself and my wife Jade for all that we have accomplished with me working a full-time job and having a very full household with 5 children.”

Melanie Robey - Dingley Lane Cupcakery

Read Melanie’s full Cake Crumbs feature

The creator: Melanie turned a home‑based hobby into a seven‑day‑a‑week cupcake business, powered by community support and plenty of heart.

Top tip: I use the high print quality on coloured images, but if there is black involved, I print it on normal.

Quote: “My repeat customers are my greatest achievement. It truly warms my heart when my customers come back time and time again. I love being a part of their lives.”
